Thu 1st 21:45 - 22:30
The People's Front RoomRwkus are an electronic jazz trio hailing from Bristol. The trio have played extensively throughout the UK as well as multiple tours throughout Europe. They are a regular name on the festival circuit, regularly playing at Shambala, Boomtown and many more. Their sound is influenced by various forms of Jazz, Jungle, Garage, and Broken-Beat. The band features members of Snazzback, Cousin Kula and Madly.
Over the last few years Rwkus have played two tours through Europe firstly throughout France and most recently visiting Leuven, Hamburg and Berlin. Each member of the trio is constantly striving to push their individual proficiency on their respective instrument, and bring the highest-level performance possible to every gig they play. The band has been compared to Yussef Kamaal, Richard Spaven and Kaidi Tatham.
The band was born at an improvised jam night and this influence continues to shape their sound and makes for an exciting and individual, yet refined live show. They released their debut EP “Music from the Chamber” in Summer 2022 and set to release new music in Summer 2024. They have also just released an exciting new live video filmed in the derelict upstairs of Ashton Court entitled ‘Ricochet’.
