The Riddle

Rusty Egan has worked in the music industry for more than 40 years. He started his career as a runner at recording studios and labels and as a drummer for various bands most famously, Rich Kids. Alongside various members of Rich Kids, Ultravox and Magazine he formed Visage with Midge Ure. The Visage track ‘Fade to Grey’ was a global hit and spearheaded 80’s synthpop. Whilst drumming for The Skids, Rusty and Richard James Burgess honed their electrosynth sound and RERB has continued to be a synth classic

An avid clubber, Rusty showed business acumen by creating clubs such as The Blitz with collaborators and business partner, Steve Strange. Unlike the soul and funk clubs, the new wave clubs promoted international music especially German and Japanese.

A talented A&R professional, Rusty spotted and nurtured new talent including but not limited to: Spandau Ballet; Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. With an eye for the new, Rusty launched the Camden Palace, launched Madonna in the UK and was at the forefront of the Acid House movement.
